It is so hot today. Why is it so hot? I need to go home. Home is 30 miles away though.
What is the problem?
It was people who created the problem of climate change and global warming. Don’t believe me? People really create the heating atmosphere. No one cares about it* so much. The atmosphere is made up of gas. So, when people run factories and drive cars, gases like carbon dioxide and methane are released. They go up and let the sunlight stay captured in the atmosphere like a blanket. The atmosphere blocks some of it, but some enter the earth CO2 (Carbon Dioxide) lasts thousands of years in the atmosphere. Methane is more a powerful greenhouse gas and lasts 10 years. Methane comes from cows fart and burp and also from the ground. The greenhouse effect is an example where heat enters but does not get out of a building. This heat makes the temperature high.
*Some people are caring about it. It’s a fact. I did not make the article up.
What were some examples?
In the UK, temperatures were about a 104 degree F (40 degree C) this year. It was the same in the eastern US. In fact, the world is getting hotter. This heat is because of climate change. That also leads to many wildfires.
What are the effects?
Droughts and bad weather are two effects of climate change. Tornados are increasing. Even DC had a tornado in 2021. Many floods are also happening. Sunburns will be more common. Many animals will get sick or die from the heat. If you read my newsletter about coral reefs, then you know about what the coral reefs are facing. If not, then read about coral reefs on our newsletter.
Anyway, sea level rise is a big problem too…
What is sea level rise?
So, when average temperatures increases, arctic ice melts. This water travels into low-lying coastal places. This does damage to costal cities like Miami and New Orleans. For India and Bangladesh there will be severe sea level rise. South 24 Parganas and a part of Purba Medinipur will have many floods too. In Midnapore it will happen a longer time from now. Many other costal places like Shanghai and Mumbai could be flooded too.

What can we do to prevent temperature rise?
Now, there are ways to reduce it
1. Drive less by walking or biking to places. You can even take a rickshaw if you are an Indian reader instead of a car, toto or motorcycle.
2. Don’t cook too much as this uses gas.
3. Don’t eat too much meat because growing animals has a greater carbon footprint.
4. Turn you house from gas to solar, wind, or renewables. Read the batteries newsletter for more.
5. Buy an EV after your car is broken. Read about future cars to learn more.
6. Plant more trees. Read why in the trees newsletter.
7. Buy less stuff because it takes energy to make things and that contributes to climate change.
Last words about climate change
It is ongoing. We must do our part and save the world from excessive heat. Now save the world everyone. GO do it now. Save it.
