Look at the planet after our planet in the solar system. What is it? It is a planet that is named Mars. So, keep on reading to learn more about Mars. Let's dive in.
About Mars
Mars is the 4th planet. The 1st one is Mercury. The 2nd one is Venus. The 3rd one is Earth where all life exists. There are four more gas planets. This is the order of the 4 other planets. Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune.
Mars is red because of its dusty atmosphere. But its brown, tan, and green because of the rust from iron. The atmosphere of Mars is thin. The average temperature on Mars is -60° Fahrenheit. That is very cold, and it is colder than the normal temperature on Earth.
Water on Mars
Mars used to have water, but it does not have it anymore. About 4 billion years ago, there was water. now, there is no water. This is caused by the solar wind of the sun. The sun gives off very high energy. The Earth is protected by having a strong magnetic field. Mars however had a weak magnetic field, so it lost the atmosphere. Oxygen and chemicals made water disappear and was in contact with iron forming rust.
